History
Cataract department was established in 1989. Starting from the International IOL implantation training center in Tianjin, China. One of the first institute to introduce IOL implantation surgery in China. At that time, we are the only specialized hospital for cataract surgery and training in China, leading and promoting the popularity of refractive cataract surgery up to now.
Faculty experts and team
The faculty expert, Professor Zhang Hong, is the first-generation phaco surgeon and renown ophthalmologist in China. She is now a member of the cataract committee of the Chinese Ophthalmology Society, and a member of the American cataract refractive society. The team now has three senior consultants and three consultants, including one doctoral supervisor and six doctors with PhD degrees. The level of clinical technology is synchronized with the world's leading edge, and it has certain academic status and popularity at home and abroad. At present, under the guidance of Professor Zhang Hong, our department has made great achievements in clinical work, teaching and scientific research, we have declared seven Tianjin health system project, three provincial research projects, four university research projects, two hospital research projects, and published two monographs in three years, participated in writing six monographs, besides, two people have been selected to the excellent scientist project.
Clinical work and scientific research
Our department pioneered the implantation of Toric IOL in the treatment of cataract patients with astigmatism in China, accumulated extensive experience in the application of multi-focal IOL, pseudo-accommodative IOL and aspheric IOL, which is in sync with the international advanced level and in the leading position in China. In addition, our department is one of the first three hospitals in China performed femtosecond laser assisted surgery in recent years, which making the cataract surgery more accurate and safer with intelligent surgery navigation system. Besides, our department strived to develop customized IOL implantation for cataract patients and promoted the idea of refractive cataract surgery. We also pay attention to doctor-patient communication issues with organized public forum on intraocular lens implant surgery on a regular basis on various media platform.
In addition to diagnosis and treat a large range of lens related diseases, our department specialized on lens dislocation and various complicated cataract, like traumatic cataract and congenital cataract. Every year there are nearly hundred complicated cases of referrals from other cities.
Our department provides state of art equipment for the cataract surgical and examinations, including micro-incision phacoemulsification equipment, LenSx femtosecond laser cataract surgery system, Verion surgery navigation system. We have introduced Pentacam antecedent analyzer from Oculus, iTrace wavefront phase difference analyzer, Orcas vision quality analyzer and other international advanced inspection equipment to escort the development of refractive cataract surgery. |
