Located by Jingyi Lake on the campus of Tianjin Medical University, Tianjin Medical University Eye Centre(formerly International Intraocular Implant Training Centre Tianjin China), was initiated and sponsored by Prof. Arthur Lim of Singapore, the well-known specialist in ophthalmology, and with appropriated funds from Tianjin Municipal Government. It is one of the 20 Major Eye Centres in the world. The Centre was established in 1989, affiliated to Tianjin Medical University, denominated initially as International Intraocular Implant Training Centre Tianjin China, and it was transformed into Tianjin Medical University Eye Centre in 1999.
In April of 2004, the College of Ophthalmology and optometry, Tianjin Medical University was inaugurated, Tianjin Medical University Eye Centre became into an especially comprehensive ophthalmic hospital. As the Sister Centre of Singapore National Eye Centre, it has introduced the advanced administration experience of Singapore, building up a capable and efficient executive team. Local area network has been established, and computer administration has been realized in faculty, finance, scientific research and medical administration. The socialized logistic administration could guarantee the need of clinical service at any moment. In this harmonious and warm family, the young executive team is making great efforts to carry out the mode of modernized hospital administration.
